K2 Bad Apple Skis

K2 Bad Apple Skis - TightBoards.com

For the junior skier who skips school on a powder day, we present the Bad Apple. The Bad Apple features the widest waist in the series and Powder Rocker, allowing the little one to float through snow that is deeper than they are tall. Powder, chop, and crud will become effortless to ski, and the young one will be begging for more as they get dragged off the slopes after last chair.
Key Features of the K2 Bad Apple Skis: Performance: Powder: 80%, Park: 20% Sizes: 139, 149 Radius: 12m @ 139 / Directional Taper Construction: TwinTech Sidewall - Triaxial Braided Aspen/Paulownia Binding Options: 10.0 Free, Flat Features: Twin Tech, Powder Tip, Wood Core, Triaxial Braid POWDER ROCKER: ROCKER: Easy initiation, versatility, agility. This tip has the most elevation and longest measurement of Rocker and offers skiers a "surfy" feel with enhanced soft-snow performance. The camber region still exists to ensure edge-hold on firmer conditions. Simply put, Powder Rocker provides unmatched flotation in deep snow. TRIAXIAL BRAIDING: Triaxial braiding consists of braiding fiberglass around a wood core to provide torsional rigidity for added control. Developed in 1988 by K2 engineers, the patented triaxial braiding machine interlocks strands of fiberglass around a milled wood core. This unique method produces skis with great torsional strength, that maintains the lively flex patterns of the wood core. POWDER-SPECIFIC TIP DESIGN: The widest point of a powder tip is 7cm back from the standard contact point. The design adds stability and predictability while skiing and is less likely to hook or grab in light crusts or variable conditions. TWIN TIP SPECIFIC SKI SHAPES: Unlike other categories in the K2 line, our twin tips are designed to ski in both directions. The demand for products that perform increasingly well either way is now the norm. K2 has exceeded that challenge by developing unique radius and taper angles to maximize the skis' bi-directional performance. TWIN TECH SIDEWALLS: This new Twin Tip specific construction process increases the durability of sidewall skis. A traditional sidewall construction produces a 90-degree angle where the top material and sidewall meet. The Twin Tech construction actually rolls the top material into the sidewall reducing the angle that is prone to abuse. WOOD CORES: At K2, we use a variety of woods in our cores to achieve the energy, rebound, and life you come to expect from a K2 ski. Fir and aspen, both solid and dense woods, are known for their inherent strength and durability. Paulownia is an eco-friendly, fast-growing renewable wood also acknowledged for its strength and lightweight characteristics. A softer wood, spruce is recognized for being forgiving and lightweight. DIRECTIONAL TAPER: Moderately wider tip than tail maximizes the skis performance in the forward direction. This means the ski makes a slightly different arc when skiing switch. ABSORB - ABS /URETHANE HYBRID SIDEWALLS: This horizontal sidewall construction sandwiches a urethane layer in between ABS for shock ABSorption, lessening the impact of harsh landings to the rider. Urethane is used under foot to maximize dampening, but ABS is used toward the tip and tail to maximize performance and edge control. PLATES AND RIVETS: K2 tip and tail rivets have evolved to allow the addition of a pre-cut climbing skin onto the ski for all your backcountry access needs. 3.5 MM EDGES: Factory Team skis use thick, durable steel edges. It is far more resistant to cracking for a more durable, longer lasting ski. Sidecut: 128/100/122
